Peninsula Villages’ resident choir is hosting its annual special event, Chorale for a Cause on Saturday 20 October in an effort to share the love of song with the community and promote the choir’s album project.
Aside from special compositions by the resident choir, the event will include performances by Gosford Community choir and Peninsula Villages’ own Choir Director, Sandy Bigara.
2018 has been a busy year for the Peninsula Villages choir who have represented the not-for-profit organisation at various public locations including local shopping centres and engaging local children through song with visits to St John the Baptist School and Umina Kids Klub.
This year has also seen vocal coach Sandy Bigara continue to support the talented residents to reach new heights including the recording of a CD, that will be available in December.
“The Peninsula Villages choir has grown from strength to strength this year and we wanted to really focus on the health benefits of singing under the motto that ‘age is only a number’,” explained Peninsula Villages Chief Executive Officer, Shane Neaves.
“We have more than 20 residents in our regular choir group and more than half have indicated their improved sense of wellbeing,” said Shane.
Sandy Bigara’s choral and vocal training experience spans more than 20 years. Sandy represented South Africa in a competitive national choir for nine years and is a trained conductor that has spent time touring throughout Europe. Now based in Gosford, Sandy leads the group with an added sense of excitement and passion with many special projects in the pipeline.
“When the choir group realised their standard was rising and their quality of sound was improving, they started to discuss ways to improve their confidence through local community performances,” explained Sandy.
“This special Chorale for a Cause event will not only allow our choir to show-off their talents to a wider audience, but provide an avenue for the group to showcase the songs that they have recorded for our album project.
“To top off the end of a fantastic year and provide the choir with a great keepsake, we have recorded a CD called, One Sunny Day, and hope this event can add to our pre-sale promotions,” she added.
The Chorale for a Cause will be held on Saturday 20 October from 2pm to 4pm at St John the Baptist Hall in Woy Woy. Tickets are $25 and includes entry, all performances and afternoon tea.
Tickets are now available via the Peninsula Villages website here or phone Heather Jones on 4344 9102.
