Recently Peninsula Villages was delighted to receive a very kind donation from our friends at the Umina Beach Men's Shed. Four activity boards were kindly made and donated by the shed members to help keep our residents busy. With lots of locks and latches, as well as sensory items to enjoy, these activity boards are proving very handy during the current social distancing throughout the Village.
Experiencing life through sensory stimulation is an important part of living. For people with dementia or memory loss the opportunity to experience pleasant sensory engagement is vitally important and we are looking forward to utilising these in our special care units over the coming months. The boards are designed to help with behavioural moods and agitation allowing the resident to focus on something that looks familiar to them.
Resident Reg and Care Service Employee Maddison thanked the group for this donation a few weeks ago and showed off just how much fun can be had with such a clever creation.
