Pozieres House Development wins MBA Excellence in Construction Award

Peninsula Villages’ 114-bed ageing in place development, Pozieres House built by Grindley Construction has won a 2021 Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction Award.

The development, that opened in late 2020, has won the Aged Care Buildings up to $35 million category at the MBA awards held on 19 February.

The Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Construction Awards is recognised throughout the industry as the hallmark annual event for the commercial, industrial and civil engineering sectors. The Awards celebrate outstanding achievements by companies and individuals in the NSW building and construction industry.

Confirming Peninsula Villages’ reputation as a local leader in residential aged care, the $30 million Pozieres House development showcases a unique aged care design not seen before on the NSW Central Coast. The distinguishing features include specialist aged, palliative and dementia care units all housed within separate households to ensure continuity of care between staff and residents.

“We were extremely proud to have partnered with Grindley Construction to develop this premium ageing in place development that has now been recognised by the MBA in its Excellence in Construction Awards,” explained Shane Neaves, retired CEO of Peninsula Villages who led the project in 2019-2021.

“The design of Pozieres House took into consideration how we can meet the consumer directed care standards more effectively now, and into the future, as well as showcases the beautiful area and surrounds of its location,” he added.

The state-of-the-art residential aged care development was built by Grindley Construction and designed by RZK Group. It is made up of 111 one-bed premium rooms and three executive suites, all with private ensuites, and the building includes an onsite beauty salon, café, theatre lounge room, activity space, physio and wellness centre, as well as consulting rooms for easy access to GPs and allied health professionals.

“I was delighted to attend the MBA awards ceremony last week joining the Grindley team as well as Claudia Rosznercki from RZK Group and Nick Winberg from Centurion Group.

“The success of this project was certainly assisted by the truly collaborative and supportive team that were involved. Pozieres House was born from a fantastic vision from our Board of Directors and was made possible by our planners, hard work from our builders, and, very importantly, support from the local community,” added Shane.

Peninsula Villages has served the Central Coast community for over 40 years – and as an independent not-for-profit provider competing in a challenging industry, this award recognition marks a historic moment for the organisation.

“It is always rewarding to have hard work recognised and this award is exciting not only for the project team and Peninsula Villages, but for our local community to celebrate having an award-winning project right in their neighbourhood,” concluded Shane.

Since opening in 2020, Pozieres House is home to more than 100 residents who thoroughly enjoy their wonderful residence and the close ties they have made with the dedicated members of the Peninsula Villages team.
